Epitaph Found boulder, off-cut material, canvas, frame Dimensions variable 2014 Using a process of three-dimensional scanning, digital re-scaling, and a five axis robotic milling machine a 2mm deep skin has been systematically removed from the surface of a sandstone boulder from the quarry at Hardwick Hall. The off-cut material has been collected from the milling machine’s filtration system and screen-printed to create a wall-mounted linear panel of pigment. Commissioned by Meadow Arts for The National Trust to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Robert Smythson and the men who built Hardwick Hall.

The Domination of Things Cowrie shells, limestone 102 x 88 x 3cm (each part) 2016 Cowrie shells have been collected from a local beach over a period of two working days (16hrs). Each shell has been placed within a corresponding recess cut into a tablet of limestone and subsequently offered as a medium of exchange. Throughout history the cowrie shell has been used across cultures as a form of currency and a symbol of wealth and power.
