Armando spent his youth near a concentration camp in Amersfoort. By the invitation of German Academic Exchange Service, Armando visited Germany in 1979 and has lived there ever since. "Flag 30-1-86" is a black and white painting of a flag blown by a thickly-painted wind. The work speaks of victory and failure, conquest and slavery, freedom and restriction. The artist chose to live in the restricted environment of Berlin as if to respond to his own fear and anxiety. The vague lines of the flag imply union and solution, anticipating a future in which saw the fall of Berlin wall becomes a reality. Armando was one of the participating artitists in the exhibition "Six Contemporaries from Berlin" held at Hara Museum in 1987.
Armando´s paintings and sculptures always have distinct, drawing like themes, where each set of works with the same theme originates from one unique ball of energy. His colorful oilstick drawings incorporate abstract, architectural forms that build upon one another generating complementary images.
