Bettina Allamoda uses a wide range of media, such as video, performance, sculpture, and installation to research the question of what role art should play in forming our environment. This interest is closely linked to her analysis of the attitudes and socio-political implications expressed in culture. Refering to her work as "archeology of the present" she collects and collages found objects and images, thus re-interpreting their original meaning, opening up the boundaries between "objects of art" and "objects for use". Her latest project "ready-to-wear/colonial" reflects post-colonial attitudes expressed in contemporary society: Allamoda investigates the increasing appropriation of non-European cultures in media such as architecture and fashion against the backdrop of increasing gloablization.
