 Biography:  Please report missing Information

1926 Born in Edinburgh, Scotland (UK)

Craigie Aitchison left Scotland for London in 1948 and studied at the Slade School of Art in the early 1950's.

In a career spanning 50 years Aitchison has exhibited widely in London and abroad and yet he has always remained in exile from his native Scotland.

There have been two public gallery exhibitions north of the border during his long career, the first organised by the Scottish Arts Council in 1975 and the second at the opening of the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow in 1996, but he has always refused a selling exhibition of his work on home turf.

The Ingleby Gallery is delighted to be playing a role in bringing Craigie back to a Scottish audience during the Edinburgh Festival this summer.
