Biography: 
1932 Born in Olafsvik (IS)
Between 1952 and 1954 he studied at the Academy in Reykjavik and in Oslo. From 1955 to 1958 he studied at the Academy in Florence and learned the art of mosaic. He made several mosaic floors in Reykjavik. In 1957 he travelled to Israel. In 1958 he moved to Paris. His work was included in the Antiproces exhibition in Paris in 1960. From 1961 to 1966 he exhibited at the "Salon de Mai". In 1962 he staged the Happening Catastrophe with J. J. Lebel, made his first film and first Mécanifest in Venice. In 1964 he began his film Grimaces and travelled to Russia. He was also represented at the Tokio Biennale, at the exhibition Le surréalisme, Galerie Charpentier, Paris, in L'Art et la Révolution algérienne, Algiers, and his work was included at the Sao Paulo Biennale. He visited New York. In 1965 and 1966 he had exhibitions in Rome and Paris (La Figuration narrative dans l'art contemporain). In 1966 he made the film Stars. In 1967 he exhibited in Le Monde en question at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, and in Science Fiction at the Kunsthalle, Berne. His paintings combined elements of the comic and science fiction with stylistic techniques influenced by Surrealism to form pictorial political manifestos. During this period he travelled to Cuba. In 1968 he travelled to the Soviet Union and to the USA. He had exhibitions in Paris and Cologne (Surrealismus in Europa), in 1969 at the A.R.C., Paris, in Essen and at the Kunstverein Karlsruhe (Kunst und Politik). In 1971 he spent a year in Berlin and travelled to the U.S.S.R. In 1972 he made several longer visits to Thailand, and in 1975 to the Far East.
