For Ewerdt Hilgemann´s implosions, the artist welds stainless steel plates into geometric bodies, and then slowly sucks the air out of the object, resulting in gentle folds in the metal. By putting the natural atmospheric pressure to sculptural use, each object is deprived of its inner form and is molded by outside pressure into an individual shape.
