François Fiedler CV as pdf-File
François Fiedler is a French Abstract Expressionist painter of Hungarian origin. He was born in Kassa, Hungary. He started to copy the masters at the age of ten. Later on he studied at the Budapest Fine Art Academy. After World War II at the age of 25 he settled in France, where he became fascinated with Abstact Expressionism.
He was discovered by Miró, who called him the painter of light. Miró shared his own ateliér with him in the early years, where they spend a lot of exciting time working together, talking and arguing about art. Miró's influence is evindent in his work. These early years Fiedler found shelter in the 'reality' he created with his paintings. Miró introduces him to Chagall, Braque and Giacometti.
Postwar art determined his entire work. He was strongly motivated by Pollock'. The unique technical method - drip painting - with large canvases, lack of titles and lack of identifiable figures.
