Biography: ![]() 2.12.1980 Born in Oceanside, California (US) Ian Larson CV as pdf-File 62,2 KB Review by an art critic Larson's work is about expression - both the futility of it and a basic belief in it. The work is exhaustive, like a visual tantrum, but what comes around is an odd kind of vulnerability, as though the works want to make friends with the audience they have just assaulted. There's a few works in this generation that take the piss out of the old boys of art history, and Larson's behemoth of a painting is one of them. Artist's Statement Larson's work reverberates personal interests and creates narratives that exist as their own social context. Within these narrative environments exist characters that often confuse the idea of good and evil or completely disregard them. Created with varied complexity as well as an almost abandoned aesthetic through the application of paint, collaged images, the use of symbols and the abstraction of the figure itself. 1999 - 2004 University of Central Florida BA Fine Art 2003 Edinburgh College of Art, summer course 2005 - 2007 Slade School of Fine Art MFA Fine Art Painting Scholarship 2006 Alfred Rich Scholarship Awards 2007 New Contemporaries Saatchi Stuart” 4 New Sensations Competition shortlisted artist.
