Nancy Spero: Maypole: Take No Prisoners at CAC Sevilla, Spain The Nancy Spero exhibition Dissidances at the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporaneo in Sevilla, Spain, was a re-encounter with the artist's work Maypole: take no prisoners (2007). Nancy Spero produced this installation for the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 for the Italian Pavilion, curated by Robert Storr (see: Venice Biennial 2007). The piece is a maypole with 200 treated and painted aluminum heads that, in the words of the artist, she has cannibalized from her war paintings of the 1960s. [Heinrich Schmidt]
