Born on the Farm Hillmoor near Steynsburg in the great karoo, Pieter Robert Uitlander is a selftaugt artist. Mentored by his Father Robert Lancing Southey who was an artist, he grew up in his fathers studio and there he developed his love for painting at the age of six years. As he grew older he became influenced by Vincent Van Gogh, Pissaro and Armand Guillaumin. He embarked on a Full-Time career as an artist in 1997, a painter of thirty five years standing.
