McGeoch Artist’s Statement as pdf-File 42,6 KB 1999 - 2003 The Winsor School, Massachusetts, USA Advanced Placement Exams in Biology (5), French Language (4) and AB Calculus (3) 2002 The Mountain School, Vermont, USA In addition to a core curriculum of environmental science, calculus, French literature and English, I learned about the agricultural movement of sustainable and organic farming in the Green Mountains of Vermont. A community work ethic, from chores to school meetings, gave me valuable skills in working with a team and keeping time for the demands of a full-functioning produce and livestock farm 2003 - 2007 Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (UCL) UK Bachelor in Fine Arts (Hons) 2004 Four Corners Arts Center, Tiverton, RI, USA In the classroom, I worked as assistant to an art teacher of 6-8 year olds. In the office, I catalogued the mailing list. I also helped prepare public events and cater a fundraiser at the art center 2004 Program, London, UK I was an intern and gallery invigilator for this private art gallery in central London. This volunteer work gave me insight into the environment of the commercial art world of London. Meeting the artists that the gallery represented was an invaluable experience for understanding an artist’s role in selling his or her work 2005 The Mountain School, Vermont, USA As a member of the farm crew, I worked with a small team of farmers to maintain the school farm. Daily work included planting, harvesting, haying, preparing fruit and vegetables for winter storage, caring for livestock and herding through rotational grazing. I worked in a variety of challenging environments that tested my personal fitness and ability to keep team moral positive. I have learned to lead and motivate in a working group 2006 UCL Tutor Program: St. John Evangelist Primary School, London, UK As a volunteer tutor, I assisted an art teacher once a week for five weeks. I helped in the supervision and teaching of 8-9 year old pupils on various art projects.
