Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, lives and works in Warsaw, deals with performance art, sculpture, installations and video.

Wojciech Zasadni transforms objects, materials and images in a surprising manner. He carved a human figure in frozen meat, turned magazine covers into wooden reliefs, cast his sculptures in sugar. The subject of his works focuses on human attitude to consumption that Zasadni shows in an ironic or even spiteful manner. The colourful, attractive magazine cover carved in wood becomes an eternal ornament deprived of its essence, the stock of meat in the fridge transforms into a horrifying human figure, a sofa folds into an upholstered coffin. A set of sculptures cast in sugar makes up a collection of objects and signs: pistol, model of a car, swastika, holly figure, a bottle of vodka, etc. All those images by using one material - sugar became standardized and literally and to excess sweet. Like in other works, the paradox of consumption and its surfeit have been shown. Large quantity of sugar, meat and accompanying realism make further consumption impossible. Products and objects of everyday life turned into sculptures become never-ending decoration - parody of modern consumerism.

In his realizatios he uses a variety of means: from to space arrangements and installations, to objects and figural sculpture. Owing to a perfect mastery of sculptural craftsmanship he likes to make use of quotations and pastiches of traditional art forms.

The art of Wojciech Zasadni could be also called a rebelious realism. On the one hand, the artist remains in proximity to everyday experience, on yhe other, he incessantly attempts to transgress it. As a point of departure and a material for his works. Zasadni makes ue of the icons of mass culture, objects and situations found in everyday reality. The significance of his activities, lies in a search for a deeper meaning within a banal reality, leading to cultural and existentional reflection (...)
