Biography:
11.5.1928 Born in Rishon-le-Zion (IL)
In 1953, Yaacov Agam held an exhibition at Galerie Graven in Paris, and in 1955, together with Tinguely, he exhibited at "Le Mouvement" at Galerie Denise Rene, establishing a reputation as a pioneer of kinetic art. Since then, he has avoided making a statement about "what art should be", but has concentrated on a search for a "constant change." His activities are not restricted to the formative arts, but expand into the fields of theater, literature, music and others. In recent years, he has employed computers to make his work. Long interested in a "rainbow" motif, Agam created "Le Fil de la Vie" with threads placed across a painted rainbow. The work is a question about time and about the fragility of beauty. Agam was born in Rishon le Zion in Israel and studied at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. He emigrated to France in 1951.
