In the autumn of 2009, the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens presents an ambitious exhibition project with three artists that have enjoyed international repute for some time now. Absence is the Highest Form of Presence was the last and unfinished project of curator Michael Tarantino, who died in 2003. The project combines two passions of one of the best curators of an entire generation, namely film and the visual arts. Departing from the basic concept Tarantino wrote down in 2002-2003, the artists involved and the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens will closely cooperate to realise the project, which involves an exhibition and a publication. Old and new work will be on view at the exhibition, which combines film, painting and sculptural installations.
