Salon Gallery is proud to present and promote 'emerging artists'.
Adeline de Monseignat is a young French artist based in London who plays with all the aspects of the pop culture.

She creates a satirical portrait of our contemporary consumer society.
Even if most of her work is focused in this pop culture, some of her pieces seem to emerge from a darker side of her dreams.
She uses oil, acrylic and pins and likes to play with humor introducing different meaning to her painting titles.

Born on February 1st 1987 in Monaco, her aspiration for painting and creating comes from the greatly artistic environment in which her parents immersed her, with the outstanding painter and photographer that her father once was and the smart and creative reporter that her mother used to be.

Adeline quickly decided to move to the arty and buzzing London at a rather young age in order to increase her chances and opportunities to be creative.

Without ever studying art, Adeline started painting at home on a day-to-day basis during her gap year. So much so that it became clearer with time that painting was what she truly wanted to do. At that time, she had already started studying "Language and Culture" at UCL, a well-structured degree that brings together Languages and their country's culture by investigating the nation's Literature, Philosophy, History of Art, Cinematography and many more areas. Aside from her studies, she attended weekend and evening classes at LCC (film studies), St Martins (magazine design - graphic design) and Camberwell College of Arts (oil painting). Soon Adeline entered art competitions in both London and Monaco. She became a finalist of the SAA Artist of the Year 2005 with her watercolour painting "Window Reflection", which was exhibited in the Business Design Centre in London. Adeline also won the First Prize at the "Festival des Jeunes Talents" with a painting she had produced especially for that effect, which theme was "Vivre Ensemble" (Living Together). An article about her passion for Art was published in the local Monegasque newspapers, Monaco-Matin.

Private view: Thursday 14th December 2006 at Salon Gallery - 7.00-11.00 pm.

ABOUT ADELINE'S PAINTINGS

"ARTificial imperfections"

Imperfections intrigue and captivate me. It's through defects that things become interesting. A flaw tells a story. A wrinkle is an evidence of life the way a scar is a proof of a past experience. Creases, crinkles, wrinkles, all imperfections makes each of us - and everything that surrounds us - unique.
Always on the hunt for the perfect defect, the thought or sight of something challenging - shades, lighting, reflections - will immediately arouse my craving for creating.

ABOUT ADELINE'S PIN-TINGS

"Where Pins Replace Paint"

Why not substitute paint with pins? After all, pin-ting could be the new pointillism, with a pop art edge. As fun to create than to look at, pin-ting is a concept I came up with while thinking of a new way of painting. New, fun, colourful, the secret often lies within something that looks simpler than it actually is.
