It is with great pleasure that ANDERSEN_S can announce the opening of Anja Schwörer's first solo exhibition in Copenhagen.Anja Schwörer (b. 1971) lives and works in Berlin. She has participated in numerous exhibitions in both Europe and the USA since the completion of her studies at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Karlsruhe in 2003; recently adding Paris to her list where she exhibited with Hedi Slimane and Carl Andre.

Schwörer's paintings have been hailed for their nuanced celebration of darkness. Working primarily with batik, Anja Schwörer adorns the canvas by manipulating it. Her compositions are controlled, but maintain an organic element of the accidental. Often coupled with a concrete formalism, her compositions are trance-like, dissonant oscillations.

An esoteric juxtaposition of hard-hitting mathematics and heavy metal optics, Anja Schwörer's paintings orchestrate abstraction.
