As part of the 80th anniversary of the Dammerstock housing estate in Karlsruhe and in reference to the Bauhaus year 2009, the Badischer Kunstverein presents the exhibition Architecture as Experience - The Dammerstock Exhibition of 1929.

The presentation in the Waldstraßensaal discusses the architecture exhibition "Dammerstock-Siedlung - die Gebrauchswohnung" (Dammerstock Housing Estate - Functional Housing), that took place under the artistic direction of Walter Gropius in Karlsruhe in the autumn of 1929.

The educational concept of the exhibition ought to communicate the innovative ideas of the Neues Bauen to a broader audience as a most lifelike experience. On view are ,among others, historic photographs, original architectural plans and a selection of the advertising materials designed by Kurt Schwitters.
