Exhibition “Connections” took place last year in August. Five young artists then explored possibilities of connections in social, political and cultural life, their working strategies and impact developing an artistic career. This year these artists are five again, but “Connections” had few “Corre(a)ctions”. For ones the connections determined the end of artistic career, for the others – its sudden bound (up to Berlin). Triplet Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė and Domas Noreika, Kristina Šepetytė, Andrius Zakarauskas (Bin Berlin) will again demonstrate common (but different) reactions to their surroundings. But this exhibition will have few corrections: Ugnius Gelguda, who received a State award for the best art debut last year, will join aforementioned artists.
Corre(a)ctions occurred also in the attitudes, expression, cv of the artists. After “Connections” the young artists were titled as “New painters generation”, but only two of them Andrius Zakarauskas and Kristina Šepetytė are still developing painting as a medium. Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė and Domas Noreika chose interdisciplinary art where they are free to use photography, installations, documentation and texts.
Agnė Bagdžiūnaitė and Domas Noreika will present their project ““Žeraras and Terė” – a research of the outlook of the provincial inhabitants of (one of the 14) Lithuanian village Žeimiai
Kristina Šepetytė will create (im)possible stories of personages she had chosen from the second-hand reality.
Andrius Zakarauskas will represent the new Lithuanian painters generation in an important Michael Schultz gallery in Berlin with his project “First mention”. It’s the first mention of “Connections” exhibition, it’s his first solo show in Berlin and the first consistent investigation of his own relation to painting and personal experiences. |
