 David Keeling, Quiet room, red chair, 2011, oil on linen, 46 x 51cm | | |
Keeling brings himself in from the winter's cold in a new series of paintings that view the landscape from within the relative cosiness of contemporary interior spaces. These rooms are empty, bar the occasional piece of designer furniture which punctuates the space as proof of habitation, much like the landscapes have paths and cleared areas that indicate a human presence. The idyllic vistas beyond the window are a physical and metaphorical contrast to the strong architectural sensibilities of the interiors. |
