Galleri Specta, 1998: Poul Pedersen steels an "M" from an art-work by Sven Dalsgaard. The M becomes a part of Poul Pedersen's "stolen alphabet".…
Does this sound like the beginning of something? - it is: the exhibition "Dialogue with Sven Dalsgaard" in SPECTA 2010.
SPECTA has invited 9 contemporary artists to establish a dialogue with works by Danish artist Sven Dalsgaard. The participating artists belong to different generations, their ways of meeting Dalsgaard's works are different, but as a common denominator we have found some of the basic elements as Sven Dalsgaard: Humour and/or a sarcastic, somewhat harsh comment on surroundings together with a certain irony.
We have ask each one of them to choose a work by Dalsgaard, which the in one way or another have related to, and the works are exhibited together with the specific work by Sven Dalsgaard. Poul Pedersen chose the four-winged screen from which he originally won the letter M....
Sven Dalsgaard was a significant figure on the Danish art scene. He influenced a number of artists, and he continues to be an icon to many both in the Danish art scene as well as in a broader public. During the years from 1993 an onwards till his death in 1999 SPECTA did a number of solo exhibitions with Sven Dalsgaard.
