FUKT and D (Drunk on Dreams) is collaboration in the form of an exhibition and a joint magazine, curated and edited by Yane Calovski and Björn Hegardt. The project is realized on invitation by Jan-Philipp Fruehsorge of the Berlin-based gallery Fruehsorge | contemporary drawings, where the exhibition will be held from May 5th - June 09th, 2007. The magazine FUKT and D (Drunk on Dreams) will be launched at the opening of the exhibition and also presented at the magazine stand at LISTE 07 in Basel from June 12-17, 2007.

The exhibition will include works by artists exploring possibilities in the medium of drawing researching and applying narrative-based, speculative, and conceptual scenarios. The show will attempt to experiment with how far the medium can be extended sculpturally, architecturally and linguistically. Drawing will also be observed as a product (an artifact) of a dramatic development taking place in the mind suggesting the possibility of channeling thoughts into images, referencing things known, imagined, read, experienced, forgotten. It is in the realm of the speculative that one may translate concepts onto the page, and off again, arriving at a place where experiment and conjecture happily collide.

Publishing a joint issue of the two magazines is an experiment on part of both D and FUKT questioning the issues of sustainability and necessity. D and FUKT as publications showcasing and discussing contemporary drawing practices and related issues, have proven to be a valuable and important platform for presentation and discussion and they have been successful in introducing emerging artists onto the ever-evolving international art scene. The collaborative curatorial strategies come naturally to both and in this first effort they are both looking at artists they have worked with or wanted to present in their publications.
