The exhibition is titled "VESTIBULE (Circuit II)" and refers to a continuation of Schockmel's ongoing project "SYSCAPES". The previo us evolution, "Circuit I", was displayed at MUDAM Luxembourg at the group exhibition "I've Dreamt About" in 2011. It was the second time Schockmel has shown at MUDAM, after "ELO: Inner Exiles Outer Limits". Both times, he was the youngest participating a rtist and the works shown are now part of the museum's permanent collection.
Schockmel's latest multi screen audiovisual installation blends cold mechanical complexity from the realm of science fiction with ideas of synthetic biology and the ancient triba l quest for transcendence. He translates political, religious and ecological reflections into a digital 3D world that he crafts with more technical sophistication each time. A universe that is inhabited by unseen entities of artificial intelligence and pri mal worship. In addition to his displays at MUDAM and Carrérotondes (2010), Schockmel's work has been presented at international art institutions and events in New York, London, Tokyo, Bejing, as well as at onedotzero, Ars Electronica, transmediale, London Design Festival, Japan Media Arts Festival and the VIMEO showcase at Art Basel Miami Beach.
Schockmel received his MA in Communication Design in 2008 from Central Saint Martins.
