Erró
Iceland's contemporary artist Erró's first exhibit in Turkey was at the Dirimart Gallery from March 10 to April 5, 2007. Erró, who has a figurative style derived from pop-art, uses popular culture's international values to question consumerism, standardization, Americanization, commercialized eroticism and autocratic dictators. His work includes representations of the works of Ingres, Delacroix, Léger or Picasso, as well as movie stars, statesmen, and comic book characters. Among the series he has created, one can observe a recurrent theme of China, politics and eroticism. In June 2001, the Reykjavik Contemporary Art Museum presented a retrospective exhibition on Erró's collection at their new location in Hafnarhús. |
