White is the summation of all colors and also the contrary of chromaticity. White is the absence of guilt and the presence of infinity, the beginning of everything and together silence and emptiness. White - that is the beginning of Esperanza Spierling's image-series [whitespace] I - III. Her photographs are by all means images of reality. But Esperanza Spierling doesn't deal with this kind of truth - rather with the product of photographic staging, basically the picture. Authorship and creation, conditions of genesis and references are fade out, the pictorial reality is new, it is independent and forces that the beholder takes a new and different position towards her visual worlds.
