stilwerk limited edition design gallery is proud to present the exhibition "Exploring Copper", containing new works by the Hamburg design duo Eva Marguerre and Marcel Besau. Taking the precious metal of copper as its starting-point, the exhibition comprises three new groups of works that address differing yet complementary functional and aesthetic variations. Gleaming copper, curved steel and glowing colours open a dialogue with the exhibition space and with each other - and ultimately with us, the visitors ourselves.

While the project "Iridescent Copper", a piece that combines a mirror and wall shelf, explores the discoloration processes naturally created in shimmering copper and both absorbs and reflects its environment, the group of works entitled "Kosta" plays with the idea of extending a plane surface into three-dimensional space. The shelf and coathooks of the "Kosta" series are extendable from the wall yet remain an integral whole as they do so, creating a homogenous transition from plane to volume. "Flare" exploits the illuminative surface properties of copper and bathes geometrical shapes in a soft, atmospheric light.

The exhibition complements the finished design objects by showing early experimental studies and prototypes, providing clear and traceable documentation of the complex process of design.
