I M ART presents the Géraldine Gliubislavich Exhibition from October 8 through November 15, 2008. Through this exhibition, the art world of Géraldine Gliubislavich, a French artist born in 1978, will be introduced to Korea for the first time. Geraldine graduated from the Ecole Superieur des Arts Decoratif in Strasbourg and the Central Saint Martin's School of Art in London in 2006. Géraldine made her debut as an artist in 2007 when she held her first solo exhibition in the Vegas Gallery and was chosen as one of the emerging artists by the Saatchi Gallery and the Axis website.

Géraldine's critical viewpoint of painting is the onset of her work. She poses questions concerning the meaning, death, and boundaries of conventional painting. Each work is an outgrowth of her pursuit to combine space and time. In terms of subject matter and technique, her ideas are flexible. She represents her own experience, is inspired by the works of other artists, and uses the photographs of groups. She employs several techniques at the same time, blurring the lines between figuration and abstraction. Her own distinctive brushwork and the use of a dark palette gives rise to an effect that makes the look of her paintings dispersed and existing in an infinite space. Both figures and objects scattered over this space look isolated, desolate, and insecure. That is none other than a depiction of contemporary human beings. Her work draws the viewer's attention through this element.

The viewers may feel embarrassed at her pieces that show her self-conscious work processes rather than conveying any narrative or social message. As painting is not like an object that has limited meaning, it is enough for each viewer to make efforts to fully exert their imagination. The show will bring together 20 paintings that interpret contemporary people's life in a sensuous manner, providing the viewers with an opportunity to reflect their lives.
