Images or Shadows is the title of Gerard Byrne's exhibition at CAM in Lisbon that will arrive from the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin and then move on to the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London.

The exhibition takes on a different form in each museum not only due to the specificity of the space of each institution, but also to the close working relationship between the artist and the respective curators, and shows the most significant works of this internationally celebrated contemporary Irish artist recognized for his films and photography on the ideas of representation and time, the image of the actor, and of literature and history. His works explore the borders between performance, television, theatre and the cinema.
