GRAFT "Phantom" Table at stilwerk limited edition design gallery

„A table has always stood for something special. We spend the most important moments at and around the table. We take care of the basics such as satisfying our hunger and quenching our thirst, and even sometimes the more sublime – fancy wining and dining. We make key decisions, we create the future, and we celebrate the moment at the table. But the essence of a table, the really important aspect of a table is that the table brings us together. Therefore, the table represents a key position in our home, in our life. Due to this reason, it was interesting for us to create a table and to begin a special moment together in which a good table helps us create.

In 1955, when the most famous dress in the history of films with the support of a floor ventilator reversed gravity, simultaneously the beautiful legs of Marilyn Monroe were exposed – a sensual moment filled with lightness, playfulness and humour. A picture icon of the twentieth century was created. It’s these magical moments, which we remember, setting important milestones in the flow of life. These are the kind ofmagical moments we would like to generate. Ultimately, it’s these special moments which condition our lives and make it worth living: then convulsions of laughter can set us free from conventions or ideas, which will save the world, are born. Talking, eating and drinking together at a table could be able to blockout a crazy world for a few magical moments.” (GRAFT, Lars Krückeberg)

The table designed by GRAFT testified a similar moment. The big table cloth is on the move, energetically appearing to have been swept away by the table. It’s about to standout and reveal …that the table has disappeared. It has never existed. A phantom. A moving moment in the flow leading to an awareness: the table isn’t important, rather the people who sit at the table!
