In their second gallery exhibition the Finnish artists Tommi Grönlund and Petteri Nisunen will present two new installations and a wall piece. The installations focus on mecanical precision, gravity, and the mutual dependence between single components forming one system. Four metal rings of a diameter of more than 3 metres form a structure resembling a gyroscope, and slowly orbit the centre of the main exhibition space. In the adjoining space 16 metal discs are arranged in a square metal frame, connected by rubber belts, and set into motion. If one part moves, they all do. Light from behind the sculpture shines through slots in the moving discs and creates a projection of the movement on the opposite wall. Both works are kinetic experiments: In the course of the exhibition it will become clear weather the movements follow repetitive patterns or take a random course.
The gallery will be open by appointment only from August 1 until August 6, 2005.
