Galerie Voss will show new paintings by Harding Meyer from June 19 to August 1, 2009. Besides the known large sized portraits taken from media sources, Harding Meyer has expanded his spectrum to include a new categorie. Specifically, the faces have been joined by photos Meyer produced using persons from his own everyday dealings. Already before the painterly working, Meyer intervened to alter the faces. These alterations mark a difference to the group of faces based on mass-media images. However, what they all have in common is the fact that once again it is not possible to talk of portraits, which are intended to depict a person specifically identifiable to us. As before they are the subject of an act that transforms them into painting by way of a lengthier production process. A comprehensive catalogue will be published.
