Play of Hybrid

I make a heterogeneous hybrid mixing animals and plants, which implies overturn of high and low classes/values. Such hybrid imagination demolishes the vertical boundary, settling me safely on a vast horizon. The existing vertical world keeps a rope both up and down, and the being 'me' struggles not to fall off the rope, grasping it hard. This world is a heaven for the dwarves subject to gravity.

To the contrary, the horizontal world is an open world of creativity, being not influenced by gravity. This world is not affected by discrimination due to heterogeneity or rank, being detached from value of power and class. It is just a Utopia I dream of.

I would like to pursue transition from the absolute view of the world toward the open world by meditating upon the state of chaos, while wandering between the existing vertical world and the horizontal world of my own.

My works in this age of hybrid are the sets of life born from hybridization. Their revolution against the existing world to position only the human beings in the center of the world may be gushing of my desire suffering from a sense of inferiority.

I feel a sense of inferiority partly because I am a woman and partly because I am the other of this world. I feel a sense of conflict or anxiety in my relationship with others. I suffer from such principles of reality which I resist hard because I don't like to be driven into a state of voluntary alienation only to be rotten and decayed in a forestry far off.

In order to escape from such pain and sublime myself, I express the world of imagination, enjoying a pleasure therein. As mentioned just before, I want to keep a sweet communication between my works and reality rather than drive myself into a stenchy state of the voluntary alienation.

Those lifes weaker and lower in the real world are transformed into strong beings in my world, floating in the open world together with me.

I wish to shift from the closed world to the open world through play and festival of hybrids, paying respect to them who allow me even today to shout 'All right! Let's proceed!!'
