This Thursday review features the works of Indrė Ercmonaitė (born 1985). The name of this young artist inevitably surfaces in all conversations about the painting of the young generation. While still studying in the Academy of Arts for her Master's degree, she held a show Žaidimas-Spektras-Perspektyva-Spektryba (Lithuanian for Play-Spectre-Perspective-Spectrainting) in Vilnius Planetarium.

In the context of other young painters, the artist's works can be distinguished for their technical excellence and experiments with brushstrokes. Recently, the artist has shifted her interest towards the peculiarities of human sight and perception of colours, and how flat strokes can create an autostereogram (a certain pattern which creates an illusion of a three-dimensional scene). To this end, she uses layers of patterns consisting of small, thin strokes reminding of marker pen traces.
