"A spatial path which links two, three or more directions creates various shapes or formal elements, such as straight, curved, rounded and twisted ones…The essential is whether the directions are dimensionally or diagonally emphasized, then the path into which these directions fuse, and perhaps also the way in which the body holds its equilibrium…A more mobile chord is created by moving simultaneously into three different diagonal directions. The relationship of these three directions divides space into uneven sections, creating a certain lability, or the possibility for the continuation of movement." R. Laban
