JOHN BALDESSARI, GREG COLSON, JOHN HILLIARD
opening reception: saturday, october 21, 4-6 p.m.
exhibition until november 25, 2006
john baldessari (los angeles) will be represented with paper works, as well as a number of maquettes, the large version of which can also be ordered, although there is a waiting list.
greg colson also lives in los angeles and shows recent paintings, as well as works on paper. he relates his work to daily matters with a great sense of humor, be it trivial, political, or more deep subjects about the meaning of life. he often starts from maps or surveys of any kind and expresses himself in a way typical for the popular culture of the area.
john hilliard is known for his filmlike images of staged situations. he seems to be challenging the spectator, who has to find out what is really going on. he plays with several layers of the image, e.g. by using mirrors or double takes. other times parts of the image are blocked out, leaving the spectator to guess what could be happening. hilliard has been teaching in amsterdam at the post-graduate rijksacademie. he works and lives in london.
during art cologne, november 1-5, the gallery is closed
