HUB @ WHITE SPACE BEIJING will be launched in September 2009, which is part of a new gallery side project. The mission of HUB is to discover young emerging artists from national and international art scene. HUB is a space where artists are encouraged to generate new ideas, discourses and trends in contemporary art. By supporting their innovations, it makes it easier for visitors to discover and explore contemporary artists' ideas and artistic practices.

The inaugural exhibition of HUB will present LV MIAO | WHERE IS THE CITY?

Born in1979 and graduated from Bremen College of Arts, Germany, Lv Miao, who is part of the new generation of young artists in China, introduces a new style of painting, where he creates an art form ranging between installation and a new form of painting by working with acrylic colors and spray techniques. This approach ingeniously transforms the relationship between plane and solid, vision and feeling. Each work takes minimum 30 procedures from the very beginning of production till the perfect ending. The possibility of constant amalgamation of new materials brings forever creativity to Lv Miao's works, which seems permutation and combination. Within his artwork he develops an completely unique production language.

WHERE IS THE CITY, as Lv Miao's first solo show in Beijing, which is composed of 13 works, using materials mainly including acrylic, auto spray-paint and stainless steel, etc. The whole series of works express the artist's apperception of changes in cities, where the artist is inspired, and he creates a colorful and vivid world for people living in cities.
