Review February 21, 6 pm.
This Thursday, February 21, 6 pm, the installation 2000m (2013) by Marija Strazdaite. (born in 1991) will be introduced in the Review Room of VARTAI Gallery.
Marija is currently in her second year of sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and mostly focuses on site-specific installations. Her works designed for particular rooms create meditative spaces through the analysis of the journey of natural and artificial light. 2000m is the new version of Marija's installation 1292 minutes (2012), designed for the Review Room. This time, 600 lengths of transparent line will be stretched between the ceiling and the floor spaced at 15 cm and ranging almost across the entire room - as if a transparent pinewood. It can be circuited revealing how the light from the window stops on each of the transparent "columns" of the line for a moment and only partially before continuing on its way. |
