Markus Wilfling is one of the most original and striking sculpturing artists of Austria's younger generation. In the year 2003 he was widely noticed both in the public and the media with his installation of the "Shadow of the Clocktower" (Uhrturmschatten) for Graz, Europe`s Capital of Culture 2003.

Wilfling is interested in every day occurrences, unnoticed or unconscious dimensions of reality, he irritates preconceived concepts of perception. Reality in Wilfling's art becomes incalculable and unpredictable: appearance and reality merge, virtual reality gets real and the Imaginary definite.
