Western man and the idea of redemption

in modern and contemporary visual art

A unique exhibition from the works of Picasso, Dalí, Bacon, Redon, Kokoschka, Andy Warhol and of other world famous artists.

An incomparably exciting exhibition can be seen in MODEM as a result of such international cooperation that haven't had a precedent before. The insurance value of artworks, that arrived from more than 80 institutions and collectors, exceeds the 100 milliard Hungarian Forints. The theme of the exhibition is such a question that has always been recurrent in art since romanticism: Can the world be redeemed? Works are on view that give or try to give answers to this question, in the topic of messianism and redemption. Works of Picasso, Dalí, Kokoschka, Munch, Andy Warhol, Serrano, Bacon, Redon, Abramovic are exhibited in Debrecen, but besides the international masterpieces there are an exciting selection of Hungarian art from Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka to Judit Reigl. The public could never see the modern and contemporary artworks dealing with the idea of messianism and redemption in such a comprehensive context that offers so various interpretations.
