MSLM - MAMA Moslima Fashion
is opening her doors for a startling project, MSLM. This project consists of two elements: a magazine and an exhibition.

MAMA noticed, in Rotterdam as well as in other cities, a large variety in styles of Moslem female dressing and their influence on our current fashion. Strangely enough there wasn't a glossy especially for this group on sale.

This group of young fashion-minded women, mostly second generation Moslem clearly stands out in our society. MSLM is showing the fashion of this group. It seems that the public opinion is always pointing out the differences and social problems of these girls. However, these young women grew up in the Netherlands, they are Dutch and their background creates a fashion-clash which results in new interesting forms and silhouettes for both Moslem and non-Moslem women. From traditional to trendy, from the Mid-East to the West.

Natasa Heydra explored, together with five young Moslems, how these women see fashion themselves. MAMA is specially curious to how the fashion-industry plays into this group of girls whom, by their extra frame of rules and mixed background, set specific demands for the way they dress.

After the premiere at Showroom MAMA the exhibition will travel on to a.o. Eindhoven and Amsterdam.
