The work of six sculptors is presented by Donopoulos International Fine Arts in the exhibition Sculptures & drawings inaugurated on Saturday the 1st of November 2008 at 7pm.

Drawings and sculptures untouched by time expand the limits of our imagination which lay unstirred until now.

Spatial poetry, what is described with the void in three dimensional forms, becomes a line which joins the hip to the leg in the figurative works by Julio Gonzalez, which refer to the huge linear wrought iron sculptures from the 1930s to his last metamorphic sculptures.

The geometric forms of Eduardo Chillida rise and revolt, violently dispersing and simultaneously embracing their surroundings with unusual warmth despite the hardness of his materials, while the organic shapes of Martin Chirino reference the traditions of Eastern, Western, African, and American cultures, even as they remain perfectly unique unto themselves.

Abraham Christian David's sculptures convene the spirits of Renaissance art (Donatello and Michelangelo), the Classical abstract art of the avant-garde in the twentieth century (Giacometti and Brancusi), the most (so-called) "primitive" objects from the smallest villages in Africa, and the most (so-called) "refined" goddness or Buddha from India or Japan.

Rebecca Horn, seeks an interaction with the surrounding landscape and its historicity. By replacing the human body with kinetic sculptures which take on their own life, each installation is a step towards negating the boundaries of space and time.

Giorgos Lappas is one of the most inventive and restless artists of the 1980s. The conquering of three dimensional space, the variability of a work of art and the transient sense of constant metamorphosis of contemporary man are a few of the qualities that characterise the sum of his work.
