»HORROR 32 - THE MANUAL«

The solo-exhibition »HORROR 32 - The Manual« concludes a series of expositions and creates new links between them. The cycle was started in January this year by a non-public performance and installation »HORROR 14« in De Bond (Brugge, Belgium) which was followed by a performance and solo-exhibition »HORROR 30« in BE-Part (Waregem, Belgium); as well as the second, public, part of »HORROR 14« in De Bond and a publication of an artist book entitled »HORROR 44«.

Concerning complexity of the series, »HORROR 32 - The Manual« seems to promise certain assistance. But the one expecting didactics, does not know Steve Schepens well enough. The artist takes indirect paths to the generation of images and their meanings. And yet, his works and performances are spectacular and uncompromisingly direct. In HORROR 32, Schepens persues his most radical strategies. Not only he skillfully masters various genres, media and cultural modules, but also he uses all available works of the HORROR-series to achieve the most complete presentation of this cycle.
