OPENING RECEPTION STEFFEN JUNGHANS

Thursday, June 22, 2006 from 11am to 8pm we will open the new Steffen Junghans exhibition. The exhibition will be shown until July 26, 2006.

Steffen Junghans: »Dürrenmatt let his figur say: 'There is nothing left for us physicians but capitulation to reality.' I think we are living in a century where people know everything and understand nothing, there are only riddles but no mysteries, the human existance is filled with nothing else anymore but being overseen or ignored.«

In his new project » Kapitulation (I) « , Junghans leaves the familiar terrain of a pure documentary working and goes for the image-initializing idea. Pictures are shown in the sense of Vilém Flussers' »gesture of seeing « , so to speak that, »which the ancient thinkers called theoria and from which emerges an image they called idea. «Initialization of sense through the recombination of seen images, that is to say before, during and after their nascency; cogitation about world by thinking ahead about pictures.
