»ambush«
We cordially invite you and your friends to the opening reception on Saturday, March 10, 2007 starting at 6pm.
Under these circumstances the painting like every other picture today is no more mirror but an ambush, a trap, in which similarly the look like the thinking hopelessly get caught. Painting intoxicates as we see it from the front and from behind, from the outside and from the inside; naive joy in the great screening and sobering look up behind the scenes possibly at the same time. When looking at Tobias Koebsch's canvas, fright and see-through are therefore simultaneous perception and thinking movements - catastrophe painting as a metaphor for the catastrophe
of the painting .
