Tomas Martišauskis, Tool - Line, 2013
Review July 5, 7 pm.
This Friday, July 5, 7 pm, the Review Room of Vartai Gallery will host a small retrospective of works created by Tomas Martišauskis (born in 1977) during the past five years. It will include this year's art and one work from the series A Perfect Lie (Nuostabus melas, 2006). Tomas gained wider recognition in the Lithuanian art scene in 2011 by participating in the Gallery's project Artscape together with the French artist Pierre Labat. There are no narratives or apparent social references in Tomas' works - instead he explores contemporary ways of representation and perception through the use of sculpture, drawing and 3D graphics. His works successfully combine information technology and sculptural craftsmanship. They bluntly portray objects thus bestowing conceptuality on the medium and the point of view.
