Conner Contemporary Art is excited to present recent paintings by New York-based artist Wayne Gonzales. Since 2001, Gonzales has been known for his politically charged paintings based on photographs and documents culled from the archives of American history and popular culture. The artist's subject matter has included such diverse topics as the Hooter's girls, Lee Harvey Oswald, The White House and self-portraiture. This will be Gonzales's first solo exhibition in Washington, DC. Concurrently, we will present recent publications from Editions Fawbush featuring a new large-scale screenprint by Alexander Ross. Recent editions will also be on view by Richard Tuttle, Tony Matelli, Eve Fowler and Wayne Gonzales. Detailed information on these editions is available @ www.editionsfawbush.com. There will be opening night reception at Conner Contemporary Art on Friday, November 4th from 6-8pm. Conner Contemporary Art is located in Dupont Circle @ 1730 Connecticut Avenue, NW – 2nd Floor, Washington, DC, 20009.
