July 18 to Aug 22, 2009 the OMC Gallery for Contemporary Art will be presenting
William S. Burroughs and the Beats
Photographs by Harold Chapman (UK)
In memory of publishing the novel 'Naked Lunch' by William S. Burroughs, 50 years ago the OMC Gallery is exhibiting a selection of B/W photographs, created by English photographer Harold Chapman.
"In the 1950s and 60s there was a thirteenth-class hotel at 9, rue Git-le-Coeur in the Latin Quarter of Paris. It became the legendary Beat Hotel, home to famous artists and writers such as William Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Brion Gysin, Sinclair Beiles and many others. Harold Chapman was also living there and photographed the everyday life. |
