|Art Copenhagen – The Nordic Art Fair 2010 – now with more than 75 galleries from all Scandinavia (15.9.2010)|
||When Art Copenhagen opens its doors on 17 September to the 14th fair, more than 75 galleries will be represented – many of them for the first time ever!|
17-19 September will be a weekend of contemporary art as more than 75 of Scandinavia’s leading galleries are gathering in Copenhagen. This year, the fair has focused in particular on opening the eyes of our Swedish neighbours to Art Copenhagen, and successfully so – the Swedish art scene is represented with an impressive 19 galleries, and for 10 of them it is their first time at the fair.
Forum Copenhagen’s Sales Manager, Mads Andersen, says: “This year we have focused more on the Swedish gallery scene than previously – and it has paid off. We want to show our neighbours that Art Copenhagen is literally a Nordic fair – next year we will hone in on Norway and get even more Nordic galleries to participate. We think it is important to present the best from all of Scandinavia to create an interesting platform for visitors, gallery owners, collectors and artists.”
Swedish galleries new to the fair include the Stockholm galleries Andréhn-Schiptjenko, Christian Larsen, Galleri Gunnar Olsson and Gun Gallery. And from Malmö and Gothenburg the list includes the Johan Berggren Gallery, Galleri Loyal, Gallery Lilith Waltenberg and Kim Anstensen. With more than 75 galleries from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, the Faeroe Islands and Greenland, the fair is unquestionably the biggest and leading art fair for international contemporary art in Scandinavia with as many as 30 galleries from abroad (in other words 40 per cent of all the galleries at the fair).
In addition to the exhibitions staged by the many galleries, Art Copenhagen is repeating last year’s success and presenting Sate of the Art – a special exhibition with new and conspicuous artists curated by an interesting player on today’s art scene. Likewise, it will again be possible this year to experience a busy programme of stage events that take the temperature of art right now. Together with the Internet portal Kunsten.nu, a number of probing discussion events are being presented, and there will also be artist talks, screenings and artist interviews on stage.
Art Copenhagen – The Nordic Art Fair opens to invited guests at 15.00 on Friday 17 September 2010. At 16.00 the fair opens to the public up to and including Sunday 19 September (on Saturday and Sunday the opening hours are 11.00 – 18.00).
