On Sunday 17 April, BAK, basis voor actuele kunst is pleased to invite you to the finissage of In the Middle of Things, a solo exhibition by Moscow-based artist Olga Chernysheva. From 17:00 until 19:00, you can visit the exhibition and join us for a drink on BAK's upper floor.

In the Middle of Things follows the artist's method of tracing the conditions of contemporary life, based on the example of her native Russia. Chernysheva presents moments of encounter between the unexceptional and the historically revealing, which take place in the most hidden corners of the everyday.

In the Middle of Things is a research exhibition within the framework of the project FORMER WEST. It is curated by Cosmin Costinas,.

The finissage is in collaboration with Springdance 2011, the 27th edition of the international festival for contemporary dance and performance, which will take place 14-24 April. The festival offers innovative, adventurous and influential dance performances by choreographers from everywhere around the world, from Japan to Iceland and from Israel to Belgium. Please visit the lecture Choreographies for Hire by Susan Foster at Springdance before the finissage, or attend performance afterward (see the program below).
