WomenSpeak! is co-organized by five Utrecht-based cultural and academic institutions: BAK, basis voor actuele kunst, the Graduate Gender Programme and Centre for the Humanities of Utrecht University, Kosmopolis Utrecht, and TUMULT. The plurality of intellectual, cultural, and artistic practices presented by these institutions are engaged in the topics such as emancipation, radicalization, adoption, pornography, and sexuality in the intersection of different cultures. The second session in the series, entitled "Mom, where do I come from?," engages in a discussion about the social and cultural context of adoption and how it influences one's identity formation and the public recognition of national, cultural, and sexual identity in a so-called "multicultural society" like the Netherlands.
