Auction Highlight #1

Uta Barth
Untitled (2005)
lightjet photograph
20 x 30 inches
Courtesy of Jane Berman, Uta Barth and Tanya Bonakdar Gallery

This photographic triptych (printed on a single sheet) comes from Barth's recent series depicting modest vases of flowers placed on a desk in her California home. Referring to this series, Barth said "...the most recent work with the flower images is about prolonged staring, blinking and closing your eyes. It's totally an objective, external world that's completely optical."

Uta Barth has exhibited extensively in the US and abroad at venues including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles), SITE Santa Fe, Albright-Know Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, the Henry Art Gallery, Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, Musée de l'Elysse (Lausanne, Switzerland), the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, Contemporary Art Museum, Houston, and Museum Küppersmüle für Moderne Kunst (Innehafen Duisberg, Germany).

Her works are represented in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Tate Gallery, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Guggenheim Museum, Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles).

Uta Barth's photographic series, Untitled (06), had its national premier at Franklin Art Works in 2006.
